What i learned…
My photography presentation inspiration started with a specific vision to use London streets as my template for putting a new touch onto street photography. The idea of passing through the idea blossomed because my cousin from the States was coming to Europe for the first time, and I wanted to make her the main subject, photographing all the emotions one goes through when passing through a brand new city. This idea was inspired by Richard Sandler’s raw street photography style.
London is a busy city. People travel to the incredible landmarks representing London, Big Ben, the London Eye, the vast museums, and the long history. During this process, I came to have a deeper understanding of a photograph’s storytelling through light, motion, framing, and focus, As Stephen Shores says, “a photo without structure is like a sentence without grammar.”
However, the struggle I ran into the most was recreating this idea into a reality; using a small LUMIX digital camera, it was hard to capture the vase movement of the city, with flash highlighting the wrong subjects and a shutter speed that was difficult to use, create new struggles and challenges that made me have to rethink my overall concept. To work with the remedies that are left behind when moving through a fast-paced city, this new idea I will photograph newspapers left behind, sticking with the theme of street photography and passing through objects.
